Hey, if he ain't broke, why cast another Bond?

Producer Michael G. Wilson wants to take that position when it comes to Daniel Craig as the legendary super spy. In a recent interview with People UK, Wilson revealed that he hopes to keep the latest Bond around for a record-breaking eight movies. With Craig currently filming his third Bond movie, "Skyfall," that would mean five more movies to break the record set by Roger Moore.

"Filming has gone very well so far and I’d love Daniel to surpass Roger’s record and do eight pictures," Wilson told People. "Daniel’s been an absolute pleasure to be around because he takes the role so seriously. There’s really no one more passionate about making these films work than him – he’s a film maker’s dream."

The producer and star have had no discussions about breaking the record, and Wilson said that talks would only happen once Craig wrapped on "Skyfall."

"A lot of people have said Daniel’s been their favourite Bond since Sean Connery and I can’t argue with them. He’s doing a great job," Wilson said.

The producer also spoke about why he's so excited for "Skyfall." According to Wilson, Craig and director Sam Mendes are channeling a kind of Bond that hasn't been around lately. "The director Sam Mendes and Daniel are taking it back to a 60s feel – more Sean. I think that's what the fans wanted," Wilson said. "There's a magical 'Goldfinger' feel surrounding it all. It's all very exciting. I can't wait for people to see the movie because I think we're making a very special Bond."

Aside from hosting the first Bond film since 2008's "Quantum of Solace," next year also marks the 50th anniversary of the classic series. To commemorate the momentous occassion, Wilson would ideally like to bring together all of the men who have played Bond in the past. "We'd really like to get all six together. We're trying to find a way for fans to celebrate with us because they've been the reason the Bond films have been the success they have," he said.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
