Hack Your Toaster!!

Plain toast doesn't leave much to the imagination. Besides deciding if you want butter or jam, you probably don't give it a second thought. Your toaster just continues to sit on the counter doing its work and you don't even notice. On tonight's episode of "The Screen Savers" I'll show you how to put a little spring in the step of that unsung hero of your countertop with a hack that'll let you toast a pattern onto your bread. You'll even be able to switch between two patterns.

Warning: Hacking voids the warranty on your toaster. You should also make sure the toaster is unplugged during the hacking process.

Gather your materials. You'll need the following.

* A two or four-slice toaster

* One three-pin connector to toaster

Part: Digi-Key WM1221-ND

* Three solder tail style male pins for three-pin toaster connector

Part: Digi-Key WM1004-ND

* One three-pin connector to TCU

Part: Digi-Key WM1231-ND

* Three solder tail style female pins for three-pin toaster connector

Part: Digi-Key WM1005-ND

* Three feet of high temperature wire, available at your local appliance repair store

Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
