It can get lonely, living in a fantasy world populated by dwarves, dragons and hobbits. Maybe that's why Luke Evans, the actor tapped to play Bard the Bowman in Peter Jackson's upcoming "Lord of the Rings" prequels, has been so taken by his "The Hobbit" cast mates down in New Zealand, during the year-long shoot.

MTV News sat down with Evans while he was promoting "Immortals," and he gave an update about his role in the upcoming two-part fantasy epic. "I had a bit of training before we started shooting on 'The Hobbit.' I'm fully into it now, and it's great," Evans said. "I'm having a fantastic time. Living in New Zealand, it's like a different world. It is a different world. It's very, very cool."

Even though he's only just begun filming his part, Evans told us that the cast already feels like family. "The thing is, I've done probably ten percent of what I'm going to be doing shoot-wise," Evans said. "But the cast are fantastic because we're so far away from home. Everyone's away from home. We were a little family."

Evans gives credit for the warmth to the man who started the whole thing, director Peter Jackson. "Peter and the team create a very warm atmosphere on-set, and off-set, we all socialize. It's very special. I just feel lucky to be a part of it," Evans said.

You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
