Television Special

NASHVILLE, Tenn., July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- For 33 years the CMA Music

Festival/Fan Fair® has been an annual celebration of Country Music, with

one-of-a-kind performances from the hottest stars and amazing interaction

between the artists and their fans. This unique four-day experience was filmed

in Nashville in June 2004 for "CMA Music Festival: Country Music's Biggest

Party," a new television special airing Wednesday, July 14 (9:00-11:00 PM/EDT)

on the CBS Television Network.

The outstanding artist performance lineup for the two-hour special

includes Trace Adkins, Dierks Bentley, Brooks & Dunn, Terri Clark, Pat Green

and Willie Nelson, Martina McBride, Montgomery Gentry, Brad Paisley, Rascal

Flatts, LeAnn Rimes, Uncle Kracker and Rachel Proctor, Keith Urban, Hank

Williams Jr., Gretchen Wilson and Wynonna. These performances were filmed

during the festival's Nightly Concerts at The Coliseum in Nashville, home of

the NFL Tennessee Titans. In between performances, special vignettes featuring

artists interacting with their fans spotlight the unique element that makes

this event stand apart from other festivals.

USA Today calls the CMA Music Festival the "crown jewel of Country Music

festivals." In 2004, the event featured more than 70 hours of live

performances. Country Music artists and celebrities signed autographs and

posed for pictures with fans in the exhibit hall, competed in celebrity sports

events, hosted fan club parties and charitable auctions, and much more. More

than 132,000 fans from all 50 states and around the world attended the four-

day festival.

I've always liked country, I suppose it makes up 1/4 of all my music. Lately, and by that I mean @ 5 years, I haven't heard more than 1 song that actually excited me. -Murder on Music Row-

I'm a big fan of the "old country", does anyone know of any new artists with that sound?

Ryan Adams - listen to the Heartbreaker CD..very good.

I totally agree with ya on the Outlaws suggestion Dude as in Cool..........it just so happens that Monte Yahoo the drummer for the Outlaws lives in my area, he has come in to my store and purchased cigars on a few ocassions............

I guess my addition would have to be a hearty dose of New Riders of the Purple Sage (any album)

I think old country is basically dead. The good songs are being done by girls nowadays: Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift & Miranda Lambert. Lambert is a great writer, but her songs are quite negative. She uses her music to kill off her ex-lovers.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
