Angels of Venice

I was chasing rabbits looking for a track by a band called Venice when I discovered Angels of Venice instead. I don't think I found the track that started the search or if I did manage to find it... it was quickly forgotten in favour of the new discovery. Here's the quote from the official website which also has sound samples in the discography section. Give them a listen and relax :)

"Emerging from the heart and soul of harpist/composer/producer Carol Tatum, the Angels of Venice's sound is ethereal, joyous, firey, lush, mysterious and elegant. Driven by harp, flute, cello, hammered dulcimer and exotic percussion accompanied by world instruments such as udu, doumbek, oud, hurdy gurdy, bouzouki and recorder this group combines middle eastern, medieval and neoclassical styles to create an aural landscape that is at once compelling and provocative."

Its a beautiful looking site. The first album for sale is a compendium of xmas tunes. But the second one is an ambient album - the first cut is kinda haunting yet beautiful - the sound, with the harp at its center, is unusual - Ive never really heard anything quite like it. Nice find, Umma. :good job:

Here's a link to the music (Hit discography at the bottom/scroll down midway to Nothing Else Matters and hit Play):

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
