Hey notbob, welcome to the site.

Because I am currently unable to, I'd like to say thanks for sticking up for me and being a friend on the ZP forums. It wasn't overlooked.

Since you are a music collector, my mom has some original edisons sitting at home that she would like to unload... any interest? (Theyre free)

those are cool and all, but finding a player would be very difficult

the band "they might be giants" recorded a song on wax cylinders at the edison museum--very odd sound to it, but cool--oddly enough the song was about technological advances.

Good idea. Now I just have to get my mom to figure out what we have recording-wise. What were the hits at the turn of the century? lol

they all are, well at least i think so

their music is often hilarious, but the melodies and arrangements are complex

they don't really fall well into categories, but the same can be said for lots of stuff that's worth listening to

They Might Be Giants rock! :strumma:

I've listened to a couple of their albums and their sound is different, but quite cool.

They've been on TechTV a few times before.

By the way, welcome to BeatKing Notbob! :good job:

NotBob! Welcome to BeatKing! :strumma:

This place is becoming increasingly more and more like our old home away from home, with the very noticible exception of the absence of one particularly large abcess. Maybe when he's the only one left over there he can close his own threads and then ban himself...meanwhile enjoy yourself here, nate. You are among friends!

TMBG...what a great little band. Chicks dig 'em too.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
