Tom Cruise Gives 'One Shot' To Rosamund Pike

[url="http://www.deadline.com/2011/08/rosamund-pike-gets-female-lead-in-tom-cruises-one-shot/"]Deadline[/url] reports that the former Bond girl has landed [url="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2011/08/15/tom-cruises-one-shot-targets-leading-ladies/"]the female lead in "One Shot,"[/url] Paramount's Cruise-starring adaptation of the Jack Reacher novel series. Pike will play Helen Rodin, a defense attorney who works with Reacher, a former military man turned drifter, to bring bad guys to justice.

History Channel's miniseries "The Hatfields and McCoys" just added another major Hollywood actor. He is joining[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/13508/personmain.jhtml"] Kevin Costner[/url], who plays "Devil" Anse Hatfield. The Civil War drama follows the two friends as post-war tensions cause the two families to start warring against each other.

[b]Rosemarie DeWitt Joins The "Neighborhood Watch"[/b]
[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/99943/personmain.jhtml"]Ben Stiller[/url] just gained a wife in his sci-fi comedy "[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/295034/moviemain.jhtml"]Neighborhood Watch[/url]." "United States of Tara" star [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/399545/personmain.jhtml"]Rosemarie DeWitt[/url] will play the role of Stiller's wife who forces them to move to the suburbs, [url="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/rosemarie-dewitt-play-ben-stillers-223656"][i]The Hollywood Reporter[/i][/url] has learned. Vince Vaughn is also signed on to the flick. "Neighborhood Watch" starts shooting in the fall in Georgia.

[b]Brad Pitt To Produce "Twelve Years A Slave"[/b]
The [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/42373/personmain.jhtml"]Steve McQueen[/url]-directed flick "Twelve Years A Slave" just gained a big-time producer. [url="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/brad-pitt-produce-drama-twelve-223181"][i]The Hollywood Reporter[/i][/url] has learned that [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/50260/personmain.jhtml"]Brad Pitt[/url] and his Plan B production company have come on board the adaptation of Solomon Northup's autobiography in producing roles. Currently British actor [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/238028/personmain.jhtml"]Chiwetel Ejiofor[/url] is attached to Northup's role. No word yet on when production is yet to start.

[b]Adam Scott Is "A.C.O.D."[/b]
And no, that doesn't mean he's a fish. The "Parks & Recreation" star has been tapped for the leading role in "[url="http://www.deadline.com/2011/08/adam-scott-stars-in-a-c-o-d/"]A.C.O.D.[/url]," a new indie comedy from Stuart Zicherman. The title is an acronym for Adult Children of Divorce, and Scott plays a man who was forced to grow up too young following his parents' bitter divorce. It's up to Scott to keep their tempers cool enough when his younger brother hurriedly decides to get married.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
