Drake To Receive Canada Walk Of Fame Award

Canadian superstar and Young Money fixture Drake has been slowly preparing his fans for his sophomore album Take Care but continues to make headlines with leaked singles and collaborations with YM boss Lil Wayne and appearing onstage with label mate Nicki Minaj in his native Toronto. The 24-year-old heartthrob has once again made news with the recent announcement Drake receiving a high honor due to his work in entertainment.

Drake will receive the Allan Slaight award, which is given out to Canadian individuals that exhibit excellence in the realms of sports, literature, music and the performing arts. Drake will collect a $10,000 honorarium in which he will gift and present to Dixon Hall, a service that helps to provide assistance to low income neighborhoods and their residents in and around Toronto.

Website AllHipHop reported via a press release from Drake that the rapper has expressed his gratitude. “I am a proud Canadian, and I am grateful to Canada's Walk of Fame and the Slaight Foundation for this award,” said Drake in the written statement. Founding Director of Canada’s Walk Of Fame Peter Soumalias also added his delight in Drake getting the honor. “At 24 years of age, Drake has already achieved what has taken others a lifetime to do. He is kind, smart, talented, philanthropic and driven. He is an inspiring example to all, and we are proud to recognize him this year as our young Canadian making a positive impact,” said Mr. Soumalias.

Drake will be releasing his sophomore album Take Care this October.
