Former lonely stoner Kid Cudi has been a busy man of late with his vocal imprint and assistance present on Watch The Throne, although stars Kanye West and Jay-Z maintain much of the spotlight. However, the multi-faceted Cudi is now set to take center stage with a new song “No One Believes Me” which will be featured on the remake of 80s cult classic film “Fright Night” starting Colin Ferrell, Anton Yelchin and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. MTV News caught up with the “man on the moon” as he talked on the set of the upcoming video for the new track.

“I kind of wrote to the original “Fright Night” and I wanted to stay true to the plot and the story,” shared Kid Cudi. “We really were inspired to create the song for the movie which was something I had never done before. I didn’t want it to be a cheesy [or a] cliché type of record. I still wanted it to be something that people could play and still absorb it and enjoy it without thinking ‘aw this is for the “Fright Night” movie.’”

Kid Cudi, a budding actor himself, applied some of the chops he’s no doubt learned on the set of HBO’s How To Make It In America. “The video is definitely true to the format of the film, it looks like a mini movie, it’s dope,” revealed Cudi. “I kind of portray a Charlie-like character from the movie. The only difference is I’m a vampire and I don’t like it too much. I’m seeing all these murderous things happening around me and I’m totally unfazed and numb to all of it.”

The Cleveland native did assure that while he could relate to the nocturnal nature of vampires with the late hours he keeps, he’s not going around biting any necks in the process. Instead, Cudi is hard at work undoubtedly preparing a second mixtape and a third studio album Man On The Moon III slated for release sometime this year.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
