'Hunger Games': See Liam Hemsworth As Gale!

[url="http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2011/08/11/new-hunger-games-still-liam-hemsworth/"]MTV's Hollywood Crush[/url] has a look at the latest image, which features [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/1086152/personmain.jhtml"]Liam Hemsworth[/url]'s character Gale waiting at The Reaping to find out who from his district will be sent to that year's Hunger Games. Earlier this week, [url="http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2011/08/09/hunger-games-sequel/"]new photos [/url]featuring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta also hit the web.

[b]Original Stars Return To "The Bourne Legacy"[/b]
[url="http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118041211?categoryid=13&cs=1&cmpid=RSS|News|FilmNews"][i]Variety[/i][/url] is reporting that "The Bourne Ultimatum" star [url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/24030/personmain.jhtml"]Scott Glenn[/url] will be returning for "[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/382540/moviemain.jhtml"]The Bourne Legacy[/url]." He'll reprise his role as CIA director Ezra Kramer, likely chasing after the agent Jeremy Renner is playing. Shooting starts on the film any day now, and it is eying an August 2012 release date.

[b]Discussions Continue For A "24" Movie[/b]
Move over "Friday Night Lights," because there's a new TV-to-big-screen movie in town. "24" showrunner Howard Gordon said conversations surrounding bringing the thriller to the big screen are "definitely happening," [url="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/24-movie-an-institutional-desire-219427"][i]The Hollywood Reporter[/i][/url] learned at the TCAs. Gordon said that star Kiefer Sutherland and the rest of the creative team want to make the movie, but they're waiting for the right script for the project.

[b]December 21, 2012 Gets Crowded[/b]
Who do you prefer: Johnny Depp or Brad Pitt? Start thinking now, because you're going to have to make that decision come December 21, 2012. [url="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/box-office-smackdown-brad-pitts-220980"][i]The Hollywood Reporter[/i][/url] has learned that Pitt's "[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/414395/moviemain.jhtml"]World War Z[/url]" will now be opening opposite Depp's "[url="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/410437/moviemain.jhtml"]The Lone Ranger[/url]." Tobey Maguire's "The Life of Pi" is also opening on that crowded release date.

[b]Dreamworks Bids Farewell To "Southpaw"[/b]
[url="http://www.deadline.com/2011/08/eminem-antoine-fuqua-boxing-drama-southpaw-dropped-by-dreamworks-but-still-seeking-to-answer-bell/"]Deadline[/url] has learned that Dreamworks has decided to pass on the [url="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/eminem/artist.jhtml"]Eminem[/url]-led boxing drama "[url="http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1654192/eminem-play-boxer-8-mileinspired-southpaw.jhtml"]Southpaw[/url]." The movie was supposed to start filming in January, but Dreamworks has put it back out on the market. Deadline is guessing that another studio will snap it up soon since Eminem is attached and it comes ready to go with director Antoine Fuqua. This will be the first time Eminem has starred in a movie since 2002's "8 Mile."

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
