Just when you thought watching the throne was enough sonically, the powerhouse duo of Jay-Z and Kanye West have prepped visuals to go along with their first commissioned drop from their joint album Watch The Throne, giving the track “Otis” the video treatment. Director Spike Jonze helmed the cameras for the video which has been teased for weeks now. Patient fans can now rejoice as MTV will premeire the video Thursday (August 11) night at 8:56 p.m. ET/PT. Viewers who miss the debut won’t have to fret as the video will will air immediately on MTV Jams and MTV Hits afterwards, with an encore showing on MTV2 at 11 p.m. ET/PT.

As the first song many fans heard from WTT, “Otis” has already become a favorite with listeners and even other rappers that have swiped the instrumental for themselves and created their own freestyle renditions of the track. Spike Jonze, a video and film director who has collaborated with a bevy of stars over the course of his career, has worked alongside Kanye West before on the video for “Flashing Lights.” Fans on the Web have commented in droves about the video, with all eyes peeled to see what Jonze will bring to table for “The Throne.”

“Just read that Spike Jonze is directing the video for Kanye West and Jay Z's new single 'Otis. That should be something special,” tweeted fan @ChrisBevan89. “The teaser to @kanyewest and Hov "Otis" video looks crazy...," added user @Above_Par. "[D]efinitely looks interesting, we’ll see the full result Thursday," tweeted another fan, echoing the feeling of many fans for the new clip.

"Ye and Jay gotta video for Otis coming out tomorrow? I wonder what the setting gonna be like lol," wondered @CallMe_Harley. "Can’t wait #otis music video #WTT," added an excited @cherrynosee. User @KoolKeith02 shouted out Roc Nation along with his excitement by tweeting, "Excited about the #Otis video that premieres tomorrow #ROCnation."

Not everyone is as pumped up about the video premiere, with just a handful of fans dialing down the hype in their own way. "Pretty sure it'll be some demonic/Illuminati type s--t in the new Otis video," tweeted a skeptical @KosherChristian.

While there have been just a couple of visuals released publicly regarding the "Otis" shoot, MTV News was the first outlet to debut the frenetic 30-second video clip for the track. They call it a teaser for a reason.

Be sure to tune in to MTV Thursday night at 8:56 p.m. ET/PT to catch the world premiere of "Otis."

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
