Missy Elliott Hops On Katy Perry 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)'

Multi-platinum singer-songwriter, producer and rapper Missy Elliott has been a fixture in the game since the early 90s. In her two decade career, Missy Elliott has worked with a who’s who list of entertainers such as Busta Rhymes, Lil Kim, TLC, Ghostface Killah and Timbaland to name a few. Next in that star-studded list of collaborative efforts for the Virginia native is pop songstress Katy Perry.

Missy joins Katy Perry on a remix to the fifth single off her third studio album Teenage Dream, available as a digital download. Missy opens up the dance-friendly party track with some playfully flirty raps to set it off. “It's a Friday night now, here we go/I ain't no stripper, but I work the pole,” raps the Supa Dupa Fly artist. Katy Perry’s lyrics of a wild Friday night bender are supplanted by Missy’s verses, bringing the song’s fun-loving track together.

Missy Elliott made headlines recently after the star revealed her battle with Graves’ Disease has kept her largely behind the scenes working on a variety of projects. Diagnosed with the condition since 2008, Missy still kept busy and has since gotten treatment to help her deal with the disease. However, fans of Missy Elliott should rejoice as her resurfacing on Katy Perry’s hit and reports of a seventh studio album Block Party to be released later in the year.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
