Pictures saving as bmp. files rather than jpg.

All of a sudden my computer does not save pictures as jpg files anymore, as it always has. All pictures now save as bmp. files, which I can't use here. Anybody know what could be causing that? I have XP and use IE, if that's any useful background info.

I had that problem too a while back in here.... I only had the problem after I installed another program which took over the file extensions for jpg etc. from IE.... so maybe if you associate the extensions with IE again it might fix it...

dunno if that's any help or not

When you say your computer is not saving jpg files anymore, what program(s) are you using?

Are you ensuring the the file extension is being indicated correctly?

Like if you got a standard Windows save dialog, make sure that the "save as type" is specified correctly, and you may even want to, in addition, add the extension you want after the file name.

If all else fails, check up on your "file types" list, and see what program is associated with JPG files.

Koop, it’s just some BS in your temporary internet folder. You just need to empty your internet cache. If you don’t care about keeping the files you can delete them automatically from the temporary internet file folder Tools>Internet>Options>Advanced>Security and check empty temporary internet files folder when browser is closed. I hope it helps ya.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
