The Kinks

I've always been a big fan of The Kinks, and in particular of Ray Davies, better known as the English Bob Dylan for his wit and commentary on contemporary society. The Kinks broke at about the same time as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones with a series of hits, beginning with You Really Got Me and All Day and All of the Night, and pushed the envelope of hard rock. Other notable hits by this band include: Well Respected Man, Tired of Waiting, Till the End of the Day, Dedicated Follower of Fashion and Lola.

My favorite albums include the Kink's Greatest Hits, Lola Versus the Powerman & The MoneyGoRound, Part I, and the country flavored Muswell Hillbillys. All the above is excellent and worth checking out.

Here is the link to the Dave Emlem's excelling Kink's website, which included a compendium of all their albums (including bootlegs), lyrics, guitar chords, sample videos and audios, gossip and more.

I bought "Sleepwalker" on vinyl when it first came out. I love the album, still spin it on the table and it still sounds good....... I am particularly fond of the cuts "Full Moon", "Brother" and "Mr. Big Man"

Never liked the band at all, which is rare for me. Very few bands that I couldn't find something to like, other than Black Oak Arkansas.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
