You know I gave up on life
A long time ago
A good dad, a good man
Were the best that I could know
The sky grew dark, the clouds rolled in
And the sun never shone
I reached for the bottle
And my world came undone

And then by chance I found you
And my world began to rhyme
I couldn't have known then
That you were just passing time
Maybe You feel I've let you down
And Lord knows it's what I do
But I'd move heaven and hell
If only your love would have been true

{chorus}
What ever happened
To the love that was going to save me
Was a single call from you
More than you could have gave me
Were all of those words
Spoke oh so long ago
The closest thing to happiness
That I will ever know

And now life has returned
To the darkness I know so well
It looks to strangers like sadness
It feels to me like hell
The world has lost its color
And a haze has covered my eyes
This is how it feels then
When my very last hope dies

{chorus}

And this is my life now
Going days without sleep
Smiling by the daytime
but paying girls to watch me weep
I wish it would have worked out
I wish your love would have been true
My life would have been complete
I would have been with you

{chorus}
{chorus}

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
