The Life I Chose

Recommended Posts

i awake in an empty cell, cold and alone

wishing i could hear my family say "jesus welcome home"

dying of lonliness, shivering away

i wish i could escape, but i gotta stay

cuz all of my homies were fake, all they wanted was money

they could give a shit, hope they're not raping my honey

if only they stayed true and didnt betray me

instead they ratted me out, i can barely breath

never in my life have i ever felt so decieved

i should have left this life, and came back home

instead of living the life where i would die all alone

i can picture my mother holding a picture of me

wishing her little boy would come home safely

but the reality is that he'll never see daylight

i wish i could make everything right

but i have to pay god back for what i took from him

i wish i never pulled the trigger, and killed that guy and his kin

no amount of money is worth the lives of 5 people

i wish i was at church, paying respect to all my people

im begging god for mercy, asking for his forgiveness

for all the things ive done.. because i cannot fix this

by myself

please god im begging and crying for your help

otherwise all you'll hear is an electric chair in use

and a body bag with a tag that'll read "Jesus"

Jesus is my name...its pronounced Hey-Soos for those who dont know..

I figured that by the second time you used it in the piece. I had more fun imagining it used the other way the first time I saw it.

Sort of a second-coming reference.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
