Minnie Riperton-Loving You [1974]

In 1974, the song went to the top of the charts in the US, number two in the UK in 1975, and number three on the R&B charts in the US. This song was produced by Stevie Wonder. You will be able to appreciate her talent in this live version.

That track is on her 1974 album Perfect Angel.

She was also with Rotary Connection before she went solo. She was a talent. I have some of her albums on a hard drive. If you don't have an album and want one or more, pm me.

Thanks for the vid. It's a keeper.

Certain songs seem to bookmark relationships in our lives, and that one is one for me. Years after the relationship faded I got a call from the young lady, tearfully letting me know that Minnie Riperton had died at age 31 from breast cancer. It was grief that she could only meaningfully share with me, even though we hadn't seen each other in 4 years, and it gave a sad finality to what we had once had.

As a postscript, I'll add that we met again nearly twenty years later. She had to prompt me somewhat before I recognized her...

I must write more abstractly than I thought.. No, I met the girl I had the relationship with many years later. Minnie died in the late 70's.

I read it properly. I just wondered whether you saw a ghost or not.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
