Friends of Distinction-Going in Circles [1969]

Off their 1969 album, "Grazin", here's a classic R&B ballad that went up as high as #15 on the pop charts and remaining on the charts for 19 weeks. I couldn't find any video of the original group singing this but I got the next best thing. The late, great Mr. Luther Vandross did a cover of this song on his 1994 album songs, "Songs", which earned him 4 Grammy nominations.

Besides Grazing In The Grass (#3 1969) they had a top ten hit with Love Or Let Me Be Lonely (#6 1970). Going In Circles made it to #15 as you said in 1969. Those were the only top 40 hits for the group I believe. The only album I have pirated of theirs is a "Best Of" and it isn't a good bit rate. Oh well.

Thanks for the vid!

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
