Happy Cinco de Mayo Everyone!

Cinco de Mayo is a big deal here in LA and in most of the SouthWest. Happy holidays from everyone at Beatking.

Here's a little background on the holiday.

"Cinco de Mayo" (the fifth of May) is a day of remembrance of the "Batalla de Puebla" (Battle of Puebla): in which poorly equipped but highly motivated Méxican forces of less than four thousand troops, defeated the French forces of five thousand who were well equipped and disciplined. The city of Puebla, 100 miles east of México City, was the battleground on which México was to prove to the world that national sovereignty would not be compromised. On the morning of May 5, 1862, history was written that continues to serve as a reminder that with patriotism, valor and pride, one will overcome any and all obstacles. Their victory demonstrated to the world that they would defend themselves of any foreign conquest. The "Cinco de Mayo" is mostly celebrated in the United States among the Méxican-American population, especially in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas." - Source

And what is Cinco de Mayo without a tasty margarita? Here is how to make a decent one, courtesy of WikiHow:

How to Make a Margarita

A Margarita should be stiff and not overly sweet. A proper Margarita will allow the taste of the tequila, lime and orange through. If you are used to frozen concoctions, this will be very different - and delicious.

[edit]Ingredients

Good quality Tequila (Centenario Silver and Herradura are good options)

Lime juice (fresh squeezed is best, bottled is okay, sweetened (like Roses') adds too much sweetness for some tastes

Orange liqueur like triple sec (Cointreau is a high-end triple sec that works well) or Grand Marnier

Coarse Kosher salt

Lime for garnish (don't use the ones you juiced - that's just tacky)

In the west, we often like the ice blended or ground -try it, you'll like it

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
