M83 - Saturdays = Youth (Full cd stream) & Juan's Basement Sessions

M83s front man Anthony Gonzalez teams up with producers Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros, Cocteau Twins) and Ewan Pearson (The Rapture, Ladytron) to deliver a beautiful mixture of synthpop and shoegaze. One of the Amazon Reviewers said Saturdays = Youth sounds like a soundtrack to a John Hughes movie. True, it may well remind you of 80s bands like Jesus and Mary Chain and New Order, but that is a plus for me - I tend to like sophisticated melodic pop. You can listen to the full album this week right HERE, courtesy of the fine folks at AOL Spinner, and see for yourself - the track list is below. I think it will grow on you. Enjoy.

Much different to the stuff i'd generally listen to but that's not all bad.

Couldn't comment on the 80's influence as i didn't exist but no it's decent. I like the guitar.

Anthony Gonzalez and M83 perform a set of songs from 2005's Before The Dawn Heals Us, and Saturdays = Youth at Pitchfork's 'Juan's Basement' sessions.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
