The loveGods started out as a duo performing acoustic sets in a small basement venue in Brighton 3 years ago. The duo became a four piece and grew to be Brighton's biggest independent band. Moving from delicate fragility to fiery intensity, The loveGods entertain and captivate from the moment they get on stage.

Who would have thought that a rock band, would one day, be inspired by this 16th century philosopher and essay writer, contemporary and disciple of Montaigne. And yet, La Boétie, the band, composed of Elsa Fourlon (singer - electric guitar), Julien Decoret (chorus - bass) and Raphael Chassin (chorus - drums), has everything to claim the unsubdued and protestor heritage of the author of "Discours de la servitude volontaire": same desire to escape from the standard, the formats, the established codes. Same disrespectful attitude towards the polished world of "young" music, whose rebellious postures resemble today a publicity for a hairspray brand (for clean hair). It's about rock, energy, rhythmic pulsations, badly combed guitars, bass that bangs on your plexus, and drums which won't let you go. La Boétie is not a tranquil band. La Boétie - the philosopher and the band - is a salutary engagement for free creation.

After collaborating in projects with Bang Gang, Basement Jaxx, True Stories, Ernest Saint Laurent, zero dB, and Nouvelle Vague, singer-songwriter Phoebe Killdeer has now produced a solo album of extremes and contrasts. Fragility and introspection are comfortably married to an exuberant barrage of rock, blues and soul in a debut record that is startling in its accomplishment. Tribal, dark and cinematographic, it could possibly be the soundtrack for a Tarantino film

Marc Collin is a genuine "French touch" figure, influenced by the early '80's post-punk music which gives him his edge. He moves from movie soundtracks to club music, and has become a creative and eclectic producer. Nouvelle Vague pushed his career into the limelight after the unanticipated worldwide success.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
