"Satin Doll" is a famous jazz standard written by Johnny Mercer, Duke Ellington, and Billy Strayhorn. Written in 1953, the song has been recorded countless times, by such famous singers as Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and Nancy Wilson. The song was originally written in the key of C, but like all standards is transposed frequently to suit the singer's range. Johnny Mercer, regarded as one of America's greatest songwriters (in the early 1940s, he was one of the co-founders of Capitol Records), was often asked to write lyrics to already popular songs; the lyrics to "Satin Doll" were written after the song was already a hit in its instrumental version. It's commonly believed that the music was not composed by Ellington himself but by the pianist Billy Strayhorn, who joined Ellington's band in 1939, at the age of 22. Later on Ellington arranged the music part and shared the credits. - Wikipedia

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
