Looking to save some money? From Apple products to back-to-school essentials, we've compiled the best deals for Sept. 7:

While Labor Day has come and gone, there's still a ton of deals to shop across all categories. First up, back-to-school sales are going strong, with everything from daily supplies to dorm room goodies getting price drops. With New York City public school cancelling potential snow days and shifting to remote learning in inclement weather (and others potentially to follow suit), it wouldn't come as a surprise if school supplies and related gear continue to trend well into the school year.

We're also noticing deals on outdoor gear for colder weather pop up, like fire pits and outdoor heaters, so patio use can be extended year round.

And, of course, with today's long-awaited Apple event taking place, we're also unsurprisingly seeing price drops on older Apple gear — particularly the Apple Watch Series 7. With the announcement of the Apple Watch Series 8, it only makes sense that the previous generation would go on sale (this is basically Apple's M.O.).

Check out the best deals to shop as of Sept. 7 — we've sorted them into categories for easy browsing. Happy saving!

Best overall deal

Why we like it

The Apple Watch Series 8 was just announced so now's a great time to pick up the previous iteration: the Apple Watch Series 7 (41mm, GPS) is just $299 at Walmart. That's $100 off its MSRP and within $20 of its lowest price ever. The price drop also encompasses all watch colors, which is usually pretty rare. Compared to the Series 6, the Series 7 has a bigger, curvier, and more durable display, faster charging, increased support for biking and e-biking, an always-on altimeter, an emergency SOS function, and more.

The new Series 8 model will also start at $399, so you can keep an extra $100 in your pocket by snagging the last generation.

For a balance between parental controls and device your little ones actually want to use, turn to the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablet. It's protected with a kid-proof case (and backed by a two-year warranty), so it's built to last, and comes with a year of FreeTime Unlimited, which gives kids access to more than 20,000 apps, games, videos, books, and educational content. With this bundled deal, you'll also get a portable charge made for Amazon by Anker, as well as a NuPro Zipper Sleeve.

Usually a $189.97 value, you can save $82.18 by bundling the tablet, charger, and sleeve. It's also $85.18 less than buying each piece separately.

Best outdoor deal

Why we like it

'Tis the season for patio hangs, outdoor movie nights, and stargazing. This fire pit dining table will keep you warm and toasty when the temperatures start to drop at night, or act as a table during the not-as-cool nights. Plus, it'll add some much-needed ambiance to your outdoor entertaining area. It's regularly $349, but you can slash 50% off and spice up the season with this fire pit deal.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
