I thought I had this one on my list, but it's not there..., I love "Some Like It Hot". Great story, great performances by Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe... In fact, it's hard not to fall in love with MM while watching that movie.

Oops! My bad..., it's on my list.

One of my favorite books spawned 2 movie versions, both with outstanding cast members:

Of Mice and Men

1939 - Starring Burgess Meredith and Lon Chaney

1992 - Starring Gary Sinise and John Malkovich (and Ray Walston's performance as Candy didn't hurt, either)

Note: That is theatrical release... there have of course been various TV versions.

I'll have to watch that one completely..., I think it's the movie where Malkovich is playing a kinda retarded big man, right? It was on TV last month, but I missed it.

DAIC... I supposed you're a big fan of "The Big Lebowski"? I have this one on tape and I never get tired of watching it. I love it.

I actually picked the name before seeing the movie. FYI, i've met the guy the character was modeled after at a party...

Constantine

So I'm not alone.

That movie bombed so bad... but I so thoroughly enjoy it.

Though, Gavin Rossdale should give up acting, and give me a new non-industrial disc. 16 Stone is one of my all time favorite albums.

When putting out:

The Usual Suspects

Reservoir Dogs

A logical following could include:

Boondock Saints - Impeccable performance by William Dafoe

The Green Mile

Fargo

The Big Lebowski

The Shawshank Redemption

These all make my list as well.

Also,

Jaws

The Godfather

Caddyshack

Vacation

O Brother Where Art Thou? (seems the Coen Brothers are a favorite of mine)

One movie considered to be a real bomb, that I watch every time it's on, is Waterworld. Not so much the action stuff, but the idea of being a solitary figure, alone with time to think, is very appealing to me.

All movies by Woody Allen and the Coen brothers

Also...

Private Ryan

Run Lola Run

Pulp Fiction

Boyz n The Hood

that's what I could think of right now. Most of my favorites are listed above

I like some of the Coen Bros stuff but I couldn't say all of it. Brother Where Art Thou was absolutely classic.

I've watched all of Kevin Smith's though.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
