That's very good, bear..., although, those, quoted above, are not in the mix.

So if we count The Beatles song that you didn't know the title (the title is "Because"), you've identified 28 songs..., still 27 are left non-identified.

On my site, members have found 40 out of 55 so far..., and I'm giving away one non-identified song per day (I gave one today, so there's 14 left now).

Thanks for participating bear..., I hope you are entertained by the mix.

Yes, the very first sounds are the bell at the beginning of Hell's Bells, and the birds chirping in the beginning of Goodbye Blue Sky.

I could have probably gotten more if I'd gone through it a few times. I thought I'd hear a strain of something very briefly, but my little brain couldn't compute it quite fast enough.

Actually, it's "Hell's Bells".

I knew you meant "Hell's Bells". At the very beginning, I've used 2 tracks of birds singing to make it sounds like there's twice the birds on "Goodbye Blue Sky". I've used that song at another time in the mix... Can you tell where? (Of course, I've created another melody to make it fit with another song)

Here's two non-identified songs...

From 8:02 to 8:27...

- In The Court Of The Crimson King - King Crimson

(Mixed with Pink Floyd, The Moody Blues and Jim Morrison)

Next...

That song (bass riff) opens the album "A Saucerful Of Secrets" (1968).

From 5:00 to 5:18

Along with the "Magic Man" guitar/keyboard, the "Man On The Silver Mountain" guitar and the "Ballroom Blitz" drums... I've intentionally let the Pink Floyd bass play alone with the "Ballroom Blitz" drums at the end so it can be identified.

- Let There Be More Light - Pink Floyd

_________

So got another non-idenfied songs with my last explanation...

Man On The Siver Mountain - Rainbow

Next two ones...

In between...

0:46-0:52

Ball And Chain (Live) - Big Brother & The Holding Company (Janis Joplin)

-- ---------------------

I gave a "Disco" feel to AC/DC's "Highway To Hell" with a special "Karn Evil #9" arrangement (keyboard and Tambourine)...

Karn Evil #9 - Emerson, Lake & Palmer

how long did it take you to put the mix together?

It took one month back in last October (2006)..., I took another 3 days to edit a little something during the holidays..., and edited a little more the day before I posted the mix on my site (Wednesday of last week, May 9).

I have another Classic Rock mix practically completed last month..., but I won't post this one in a little while.

The mixes that had the bigger success in the internet world are my 3 Van Halen mixes..., I did another one with Carpenters music/sounds, but this one did not get exposure at all, so although it's still a complex mix, it didn't really have much success.

"Van Halen Mix 01" took about 5 days to be done (non-stop).

"Van Halen Mix 02" took about two weeks to be done (non-stop).

"Van Halen Mix 03" took about 3 months to be done.

"Carpenters Mix 01" took about 4 weeks to be done.

If you like I can create a new thread where the members of BeatKing could download and discuss them.

You made these yourself?

Awesome!!

Years ago, a Pittsburgh radio station, WDVE, did something similar. They called it "Quickies". The idea was 15 songs in ten seconds. The idea was to identify song title and artist name, in order. It usually took months before somebody won it.

I know what you're talking about, but that's very far from what I do... My goal is not to "hide" songs. My goal is to "compose" a mix so that people can hear magical moments.

I'm glad you like it "rainbowdemon", thanks.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
