ICE CUBE's hip-hop supergroup WESTSIDE CONNECTION are to release a new album.

'Terrorist Threats' is released on April 12, and also features rappers Mack 10 and WC. It will be Westside Connection's first LP since 1996's debut 'Bow Down'.

Ice Cube said: "We made the first album ?cause we thought it was needed. We?re all individual artists, but we hang together, run together, clique together, support each other. We felt that somebody needed to take it up for the West Coast, and it needed to be more then one artist, so 'Bow Down' was conceived."

He told VH1: "With 'Terrorist Threats', we felt that hip-hop is [now] soft. We come from the days when rap used to agitate the mainstream. Now it?s more buddy-buddy. That doesn?t sit well with me. So what we need is [a bit more] street politics, bringing up issues, agitating you a little bit. And nothing can agitate you more now than a terrorist threat."

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
