Sweet Soul Music - Arthur Conley, Jr.

Recommended Posts

I heard Arthur Conley Jr's classic version tonight on satellite radio, which was written by Otis Redding (which I confused with Johnny Taylor, another R & B star from the time period) and I went searching for it online. Unfortunately, the original was taken down at Youtube. But I did come across a version by American Idol Taylor Hick, and he does an admirable job with the song:

You know I liked Taylor from the start on A.I. he had this Michael McDonald thing going on. He did a good job with the song, This was originally written by Sam Cooke as "Yeah Man" and released on Shake, his first posthumous album. Conley and Otis Redding updated it as a tribute to various Soul singers. I hope he will go far in his career. But I have to say I like this version a little better.

That's the version!

I saw a rib place tonight driving on La Brea in LA and decided to try the place out. It was a real soul food place and they confused Arthur Conley, Jr with Johnny Taylor and I bought it.

But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
