The graphics of Rocket League have been improved on the PlayStation 5

 Rocket League is a simple game — it's soccer, but with cars — that manages to provide a great deal of spectacle despite its simplicity. That spectacle will receive a little more polish thanks to an update coming to the PlayStation 5 on August 18.

Performance and Quality priority settings will be available in the Rocket League options menu for PlayStation 5 players. On Tuesday, the PlayStation Blog explained the differences between them, as well as what players can expect from them.

Quality: 4K resolution at 60 frames per second with HDR.

HDR requires a display that is HDR10 compatible as well as an HDMI 2.0 cable or better.

A 4K-capable display is required in order to enjoy 4K. Assuming you are using a 1080p display, the game will render at 1080p supersampled from 4K.

In High Dynamic Range, the game runs at 26881512 resolution (70% of full 4K) at 120 frames per second.

The UI of the game is displayed in 4K.

In order to enjoy 4K UHD, a display capable of supporting 4K resolution is required. It is possible to play the game at 1080p resolution if you use a 1080p display. The game will render at 1080p supersampled from 26881512.

HDR and 120 frames per second require a display that supports HDR and an Ultra High-Speed HDMI 2.1 cable.

A free cosmetics bundle themed for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is also available for players on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The package contains a Punk Decal (for use on the Octane vehicle body), a Negatron Collider Boost, a Clank Balloon Topper, and a Ratchet Balloon Topper, among other things.

Currently, Season 4 of Rocket League is underway, and it includes the introduction of a new car named the Outlaw, a new arena called Deadeye Canon, and more competitive tournaments for players looking to show off their abilities. Season 4 will run until the 17th of November. Rocket League is available for free on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X; however, this new performance enhancement is only available on the PlayStation 5.
