File Sharing news, not appearing on the front page

Ok, now i'll post this in the proper section.

News articles in the filesharing section of the news forum, do not get posted to the front page.

News articles in the Digital news section, do.

Can (or should) this be rectified? I've been posting filesharing news into the digital news section, so that it would appear (because, without such, it would reduce the articles purpose percentage by about 95%).

Its your call, Ken--we're delighted you are doing this.

If you think an article deserves front page notice, then do it in digital. We can then share it in the filesharing section from admin controls, or move it after a day or so. .

We are redesigning the front page. The article section will be divided, so a small column on the left will have general news (fun, politics, etc) links.

The main news section will have subtopics like Salon.com: Music, Gen. Ent., Technology--there could be a subset here for filesharing. We also plan to have a featured article section on the front page all the way to the left of things we think people would like to see, or the most popular stuff.

What would you like to see?

You've really been posting some great stuff Ken. I had to say that first so you were a little buttered up for the rest.

I don't think we're going to change the p2p news to go onto the front page right now. Like general news, it doesn't always fit.

It will more than likely have a place on the front once the changes are made, but the changes I'm referring to are weeks, maybe a month away.

Sum- It'll more than likely get there, but for now it only shows up to the people looking around the forum.

Again, that probably isn't the final solution though. The changes to the front page today are not the ones we have been planning.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
