Longtime friends and LGBTQ artists VenessaMichaels and Kaleena Zanders have just dropped the first single on their forthcoming collaborative EP out this fall, “Creme Brulee.” This song is also funnily enough the first track they wrote together when they first met, finally releasing after performing side-by-side and collaborating on various projects for years.

“Creme Brulee” is a ‘90s R&B-style summer anthem, with empowering vocals sung to a non-gender conforming “Romeo” who is being hypnotized by this powerful female ready to embrace her sweet Creme Brûlée. The vocals and production coalesce into an upbeat musical experience that is rife with metaphor and euphemism. It’s entertaining and pleasing to the ear, and what more could we ask for than that?

The song is the first single on their collaborative forthcoming EP Sunset Situations, which will release this fall on their joint label/creative house Go Off Studios. Venessa sent Kaleena a complementary Twitter direct message back in 2017, and the two kindred spirits immediately hit it off. Both artists produce and write collaboratively during their music-making process, fostering a kaleidoscopic blend of their creative ideas into one shared vision.

Check out their new single below! And also check out their LA Pride 2019 recap video, filmed by fellow queer videographer Harp Digital Media (Helen Lenton-Perez).

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
