The Eagles-Hotel California

Hotel California is generally considered to be the Eagles' masterpiece, and has appeared on several lists of the best albums of all time; it is also easily their best-selling studio album, with 16 million copies sold to date in the US. The title track itself is widely recognized as one of the greatest Classic rock songs of all time, and Don Felder's guitar work in particular is one of the most recognizable in all of rock history. Here's a live version.

'I hate the fucking Eagles, man' (The Big Lebowski)

Alabama 3 does their version of Hotel California and it's the only track on La Peste i/the rest of us won't play.

It's one of the biggest selling albums of all time. I thought this particular track was ok--but there are some real gems on the album

What is it that you don't like about the Eagles, Slum? You have a thing against folk/country/rock? There are certainly worse groups to criticize than the Eagles

back in the 70s, i thought they were boring. and soooo mellow i could puke. thank fuck punk came along. :)

now since ronald raygun and especially since the 90s, country music seems to be co-opted by the right. who was that asswipe? toby keith? the fuckwad who gave the preznit that guitar while new orleans was drowning?

BTW, last night i was at an Alabama 3 unplugged gig (sold out) here in Bristol and when they're unplugged, all they do is country music. we were all going wild w/happiness.

but AFAIC, it's politically different when Brits do it.

i could go on and on....didn't you listen to the tune i posted w/i the last week on the folk/country or whatever thread? the one called Flag/Woody Guthrie? pure country and anti-war.

ps, about 'one of the biggest selling albums of all time' or whatever, there's no accounting for taste, is there?

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
