thanks dude....this forum needed a blues section.....you did a good thing.

hell, we all owe thanks to the blues. I mean, this forum resides on the internet and it is well known that Muddy Waters invented electricity.

Keep in mind people, you all have a moral responsibility to see R.L. Burnsides live and up close before he gives up the ghost. Your pilgrimage awaits you.

Im a big fan of Ry Cooder...he's a guitarist's guitarist. He's credited for writing most of the music behind the Stone's Let it Bleed album, and for reviving the Cuban music scene.

Whose your favorite blues guitarist?

Stevie Ray V., Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Blind Lemon Jefferson, John Mayal, Al Kooper... lots of good blue guitarists.

Ever hear the Stones 'C*ckS*ckerBlues'? I thnk Mick Taylor, probably the Stones best guitarist, does the solo

Wow, odd that you would mention my username inspiration, Al Kooper, as a great blues guitarist. He's a multitalented musician but plays guitar only occaisonally, usually being on keyboards. I love his work on the Hammond. Another odd thing is that one of my favorite guitar solos is BY Al Kooper, lol. It's on the Naked Songs album (pictured conveniently in my avatar), and the song title is As The Years Go Passing By.

Stevie Ray Vaughan can fiddle that guitar.. Rainbow--I have a very raw bootleg of the Stone's C*ckSucker Blues..speaking of collectors stuff--any takers? But yeah, Red House is pretty impressive stuff..

In fact, the new album that is going to be released (see new releases section on this site) includes:

The Hendrix classic “Red House,” one of Hendrix’s most forthright excursions into electric blues, will get two treatments on the disc: John Lee Hooker performs on a version recorded before his death in June 2001, and Prince checks in with a rendition (titled “Purple House” for the occasion).

B) well, I like many blues artists, all the ones mentioned in the post for sure, but guess I'm a product of the seventies, I'm an allman brothers fan, I think gregg allman still has a great blues voice, very distinctive, saw they're new show last summer, it was great, mostly blues rock now, let me know if anyone agrees

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
