I think I will drive the Suburban to run some errands. I'll be back in about 4 hours. :)

That will set the ozone hole recovery back about 10 yrs.

it's not auto emissions that were wreaking havoq with the ozone--it was the CFC-12 in car air conditioners.

so as long as its an old suburban (pre-1996) just leave the thing idling with the air conditioner on, Red :P

It has a small leak around the front seal in the compressor. I added some freon yesterday for the first time since I put that compressor on it 3 yrs ago. It has a stinking R4 compressor which is a piece of shit when new. This one is a rebuilt (bigger piece of shit) because it was hundreds cheaper than a new one.

I saved hundreds of dollars and enlarged the ozone by a couple of miles.:o :(

True or not, don't tell the Australian government. It'd make them think "oh, well, it's doing fine on its own, we really didn't have to sign that agreement thingy, or whatever it was".

I reckon the damn things right above us!

Stupid H*@#%@ government..

you are talking about the kyoto agreement.....that`s gone down the fucking tubes as well thanx to the incredibly powerful globalised fossil fuel lobby.....and bush and howard (heckle and jeckle we call them here in nz.. :) :)...had a lot to do with shooting that agreement down in flames... )....the damn thing is right above us all right.....nz and oz enjoy the highest ratio of sun related cancers and melanoma in the world........and now howard wants to build a bunch of nuclear reactors right down the eastern seaboard of aussie!!!...... :glare::glare:

..just come back online after 3 hours without power......a major low depression system (what they call a weather bomb) just came out of nowhere last nite and trashed the whole country...gale force winds..snow (in places where they don`t usually have snow!!)....torrential rain....major power outages (thousands of people trapped in elevators in the biggest city, auckland).....thousands queued for gas at pumps with no power....absolute fucking mayhem..it`s going to cost the country millions of dollars...... :(

...what was that the boys at NASA were saying about global warming, climate change and the hole in the ozone layer???..... :glare::glare:

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
