Faith Hill: Response to Katrina 'Humiliating'

March 8, 2006 — Faith Hill and Tim McGraw — two stars who usually stay out of politics — blasted the Hurricane Katrina cleanup effort, with Hill calling the slow progress in Louisiana and Mississippi "embarrassing" and "humiliating."

The country music artists — who are natives of the storm-ravaged states — were at times close to tears, and clearly angry when the subject of Katrina came up during a news conference today. They had met with reporters in Nashville to promote their upcoming Soul2Soul II Tour, but when asked about the hurricane cleanup, the stars pulled no punches.

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw should spend some of their millions to salvage New Orleans. All they are doing is promoting a record.

George Bush has done a great job of defending the U.S. since 9/11.

There haven't been any further attacks. However, the rest of his policies have brought mistrust of America from the rest of the world - and a deep mistrust and growing from within

Especially against imaginary Iraqi WMDs. Maybe Homeland Security should get half of the money the Pentagon is squandering in Iraq to protect us over here.

Just a thought.... ;)

Oh and as far as phoney baloney rich celebrity point of views, they pretty much rank as about the same as the baloney Scott McCellen spats out. On that I totally agree with you.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
