He seems OK--is it someone from here, or just another wanderer who stopped in over there and liked our region?

I'm not sure. ... but he seemed eager to join and didnt leave with the rest

It's actually, Miss Trofaich.

And bad news.... 2 days ago: The Kingdom of Methodistan ceased to exist.

And we have a new interloper - 23 hours ago: The Dictatorship of Bango-Sheen arrived from Bangosheenian_nation. Looks innocent, but we should keep a watchful eye

Hopefully Methodistan will wake up in Lazarus--all he has to do is pm the mods from the link here and give them his email address and the name of his nation.

The 300 may rise again!

Are the daily issues starting to repeat themselves? The last few days have been addressed before.

The new members seem innocent enough. The lady endorsed me for UN delegate, so I'm a fan

Umm, wow.

The correct answer was "yes, there are a finite number so sooner or later you get repeats."

Something wrong with this picture?

No, but...

Crime -- especially youth-related -- is moderate, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons in DudeAsInCoolsVille.

Because each of us is in his or her own prison. In all of our nations. In all of our societies, our sub-cultures, our small dark rooms at 3 am, we are in prison. Our freest moments are akin to being chained to the wall of a cave, watching shadows flit past and understanding nil. A prison!

A prison of language. A prison of culture. A prison of our fear of the dark, of the unknown, of death. The prison of existentialism, of existence itself!

That's what the Dude's re-education center is all about, baby.

I dont have any re-education centers - No Chairman Maos exist in DAICville - no Jean Paul Sarte's either - Ionesco, however may be lurking around

We dont have any crime because 'teenagers across the country are celebrating the defeat of a national curfew bill--so crime is moderate among the youth..they're having too good a time :)

The Rogue Nation of Defecatia is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its absence of drug laws. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 5 million love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

The enormous, socially-minded government devotes most of its attentions to Social Welfare, with areas such as Law & Order and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 36%, but much higher for the wealthy. A small private sector is led by the Cheese Exports industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Gambling.

Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control. Defecatia's national animal is the sloth and its currency is the terd.

:p

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
