Here I go again:

Handsome boy modeling school, both albums: So, How's your girl? and White People

Danger Doom : The Mouse and the Mask

Immortal Technique: Revolutionary volumes 1 and 2

almost any Mos Def and almost any Common, Talib Kweli, Binary Star, Black Star, Dead Prez, Blackalicious, Reflection Eternal, of course there is always Nas.

Look for R.A. The Rugged Man.

MF Doom (one half of Danger Doom), Aesop Rock, Cannibal ox, Swollen Members, Jurrasic 5, Mob Deep.

That oughtta get you started.

The rapper on the Gorillaz is Del the funky homosapien, or deltron 3000. He had an excellent track on the judgement night soundtrack.

The video featured De La Soul, which is always a good grab, and they have put out an album in the past couple of years.

cool

im also aquiring a handsome boy modeling school album right now

H.B.M.S. is actually quite cool. It isn't all full on hip hop. It has some jazzy, poppy, trip-hop laces, as well as some good hip hop.

Del is actually on a track on the White People album called "World's gone bad."

I have just always dug Del's flows.

You might want to check out Nocturna on KCRW--he plays a bit of hip hop, rap, jazz and world music, but its a bit more on the sophisticated side. You can check out the playlists on the front page in the evenings to see if anything catches your eye

Public Enemy, like Yo! Bum Rush The Show--some good old skool rap.

Sir Mix-A-Lot, Digital Underground, check them out also.

edit: Oh yeah, Ultramagnetic MCs and Kool Kieth! Check out his Dr. Octagon, Black Elvis personas... Some cool shit. But not gansta shit. Very wierd shit.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
