song writing

Hey. I only just became a member and so this is my first post, but I have been to this site a couple of time before (scoping it out).

I know of a site called 2pacboard.net where a lot of people post their own original raps. But I'm not into rap, I'm into rock.

Is there a forum, or is there a possibility of a forum being created, for members to do something similar to this? As in, posting original songs, commenting and reviewing on others' songs, and challenging others lyrically?

We have several forums to address this. Members music is for bands who want to post their own stuff for input, etc. Sometimes they post in specific generes as well.

We have a poet's corner for lyrics - the lyrics could be from famous songs, or just poems you want to share

We also have a musicians section in the Music Forums--I think we have posted

some songwriting contests there, fyi

Welcome to Beatking, TorchtheMoon :scratchin:

Members music is mainly full of links to sites where people can listen to the song itsself though, isnt it?

Thankyou though, i wasnt aware that the Poetry forum was for original works as well.

I do still think that challenges at song writing would be fun. Have you ever been to 2pacboard?

Bands or performers post links to their websites so we can play their music and give them feedback. We also have another section which posts Free music around the web.

Havent been to Pacboard - but if you are looking for co-songwriters, post something here or MySpace... Havent been to the site you mentioned, but I will check it out

What's this other section that posts Free music around the web?

I'm not so much looking for co-songwriters, I'm more just really looking for somewhere where songwriters can post their stuff and have it reviewed by other amatuer writers, or where writers can challenge others, and the winner is decided by other members. I got that idea from the rap battles that take place at 2pacboard. I like the idea

You could start a thread here in either Lyrics or Members or the Musicians Forum

and challenge others... see what happens...

Guest .::BeatFactory::.

If I'm not mistaken, -=TorchTheMoon=- wants a place where users can "battle" rap through lyrics, but also use the same place to write other genres of lyrics where users can critique them. We could try it as a sub-forum in the members music or DJ/musician's corner if BK shows a demand for it.

Yeah thats what I meant - sorry, i just didnt know how to explain it properly. Let me try again -

I'm looking for a place that holds lyrical battles, but not just for rappers, which is what 2pacboard.net does.

Does that make more sense?

Set it up, BF.

(Once we have the redesign done, we can accomodate lots of requests like this in each of the various music genres and more... :) )

Whoa.  Wow.   So what does that mean, exactly?

Too early to tell  In the meantime, we will get your first request up... (be patient)

lol - we have been working on it for a long time... there have been a couple hitches along the way... stay tuned...

Of course I'll stay tuned.

This lyric battle thing is kind of interesting. If I could write at all, I'd be a huge advocate for it, as for now, just consider me a supporter. :)

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
