The Mountain Goats Announce New Album <i>Goths</i>, Share New Song: Listen

The Mountain Goats have announced a new album, titled Goths. The follow-up to 2015’s wrestling-centric Beat the Champ is out May 19 via Merge. The Mountain Goats’ lineup on Goths is a quartet, featuring Matt Douglas on woodwinds. The album's Bandcamp page notes: “NO COMPED VOCALS, NO PITCH CORRECTION, NO GUITARS.” A deluxe edition of the album features four bonus tracks.

The Mountain Goats will tour in support of the album throughout 2017: see their dates here.  Earlier this month, Darnielle released his new novel Universal Harvester, followed by a book tour. Since Beat the Champ, Darnielle has shared several new Mountain Goats tracks, including “Going Back to California” and “The Ultimate Jedi Who Wastes All the Other Jedi and Eats Their Bones,” a joke song he wrote for The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson.
