Dada

dada was one of the best alternative bands to come out of the southwestern US... in the mid-nineties.

On their first album Puzzle ..with its guitarwork classic Dorina...and the offbeat ..witty Dizz-Knee-land ...tune ...the band became an instant darling of college radio stations... coast to coast..

Their follow-up album American Highway Flower...was written while the band toured the states relentlessly in support of Puzzle.

While the critics panned it at first... because it was more insightful, and had less flashy guitar work ..it slowly gained acceptance with songs like Feet to The Sun and All That I Am documenting life on the road, and the perils of relationships gone wrong.

" By the way, you'll be happy just to know...that I've given up on you"has to be one of the greatest breakup lines ever written.

American Highway Flower and Puzzle represent all that's good with music...great writing..harmonies... sensitivity....all the basics.

The band broke up a few years ago, for unknown reasons, but left us with these 'diamonds in the rough'.

Next time shopping for music...add these gems to your collection.

Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
