Richard Ashcroft - Alone with Everybody

Bit of allmusic Review:

Review by MacKenzie Wilson

He experienced what could have been a traumatic blow to his inventiveness and creativity as a musician but ex-Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft is fresh. He has moved on from the effervescent prettiness of his former band to make music for himself — something the Verve might have done somewhere in time, but it wouldn't have been so honest or stripped as this solo jaunt, Alone With Everybody. Another look into the shoegazing mind of this singer/songwriter, this record is not a comeback.

Just a cool album :electroguitar:

Oh Yeah, hiya folks!

Trance Dance - Robert Eberhard Young - From 'Sticks and Stones' CD on Imaginary Road Records

***

Terrific acoustic guitar work -- here's some info from Jazz Online.com:

http://www.jazzonline.com/qanda.asp?id=14&fromform=1

Rob Eberhard Young was born and raised on the coast of Maine, and has been playing guitar for nearly fifteen years. This twenty-nine-year-old composer and performer had spent most of his career as an electric guitarist, performing with hard rock and metal bands and with guitar-based instrumental rock and fusion groups both in Boston and in Honolulu. In 1993, however, he realized that he had taken technique, composition, and performance on the electric guitar as far as he wanted to, and he unplugged himself to explore new compositional ideas with the acoustic guitar. A year later, he released his first solo recording, Consistent Variation, about which Guitar Magazine’s John Stix wrote, “Rob’s music is rhythmically propulsive, harmonically rich and melodically compelling. That Rob does this all at the same time on the acoustic guitar makes for one fine ride!”

Sticks & Stones is Rob Eberhard Young’s debut on the Imaginary Road label, and it’s definitely an auspicious one. It marks the first time producer Will Ackerman has chosen to work with a new guitarist since he first produced Michael Hedges in 1980, and it gives Young the opportunity to reach a far wider audience. Rob received high praise for his acoustic debut in 1994, and Consistent Variation not only won him great reviews and praise from his fellow musicians, it was also his entry to consideration for a deal by three of the top labels in his musical genre. Ultimately, Young chose to sign with Imaginary Road Records, co-owned by Ackerman, who gained widespread notoriety as the founder and principal producer of Windham Hill and High Street Records.

Ackerman said, “...In the late ‘70’s and early 80’s, there was a renaissance in guitar music and this spawned a number of very powerful talents and brilliant careers. Then everything pretty much seemed to fall asleep; the careers that had been established continued to dominate the scene, and there were a lot of imitators on the fringe. Despite the fact that solo guitar launched Windham Hill, I hadn’t found anyone in fifteen years whose music offered a startling new voice until I heard Rob Eberhard Young. Rob has these incredible chops that alone would stun the listener, yet he never loses sight of delivering evocative melody in his pieces. Having both talents makes him a very rare guitarist.”

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
