"Am I Evil"......Diamond Head..from the album "Lightning To The Nations" (1980)....another excellent British heavy metal band....great guitar work...heavy as an anvil...

Diamond Head are a British heavy metal band formed in 1976 in Stourbridge, England. They were one of the leading members of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) and are acknowledged by later bands like Metallica and Megadeth as an important early influence.

The name "Diamond Head" came from a Phil Manzanera album.

"Wings of Insanity"....Derek Sherinan and Zakk Wylde from the album "Molecular Heinosity" (2009)....

Derek Sherinian (born August 25, 1966) is an American ‎rock and jazz fusion keyboardist based in Los Angeles, California. , Sherinian has been a keyboardist and sideman for a number of artists, including Alice Cooper, Billy Idol, Yngwie Malmsteen, Kiss, and Zakk Wylde. He has also played keyboards for Dream Theater and is the co-founder of the band Planet X.

Sherinian has been called the "King of the Keys" and the "Caligula of keyboards" due to his performing style. His influences include Elton John, Keith Emerson, Jan Hammer, and a variety of guitarists...including (surprise, surprise)...Zakk Wylde....

Says Wylde (who is no musical slouch himself) of Sherinan`s musical abilities...“People want to play with him because he’s that good. He can play everything from the easiest licks on a piano to the most complex Beethoven sonatas with ease.”

"StarFleet' .....Brian May & Friends..from the album "The Starfleet Project" (1983)....

Star Fleet Project is a project of Brian May, most famous as the guitarist from Queen, which resulted in an album with the same name. The project was released as the work of "Brian May + Friends", consisting of May, guitarist Eddie Van Halen, drummer Alan Gratzer (of REO Speedwagon), Phil Chen (session bassist who played with Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart), and Fred Mandel (session keyboardist who also played on The Works). Roger Taylor, Queen's drummer, provided backing vocals for the title song..

"Star Fleet is the theme tune for a superb TV sci-fi series broadcast in England for kids of all ages; Japanese visuals and British soundtrack including music by Paul Bliss. The heroes pilot space vehicles which can assemble into a giant robot for land battles. The aliens fly fantastic insect-like craft which spawn smaller fighting machines; all intent on possession of the secret of F Zero One...Having been introduced to all this by my small boy, I became equally obsessed by it, and formed the idea of making a hard rock version of the title theme."

The idea for the album came from May's son, Jimmy.

"Strange Fruit'...Billie Holliday...wonderful to listen to...brilliant and bitter...

"Strange Fruit" is a song performed most famously by Billie Holiday. It condemned American racism, particularly the lynching of African Americans that had occurred chiefly in the South but also in all regions of the United States. Holiday's version of the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1978. It was also included in the list of Songs of the Century, by the Recording Industry of America and the National Endowment for the Arts.

In time "Strange Fruit" became Holiday's biggest selling record. Though the song became a staple of her live performances, Holiday's accompanist Bobby Tucker recalled that Holiday would break down every time after she sang it.

"Freak"..Bruce Dickinson and Roy Z...from the album "Accident of Birth" (1997)...very good heavy metal...I prefer Dickinsons` work with guitarist/producer Roy Z as opposed to his Iron Maiden gig...more melodic and less prescriptive..his vocals are strong and smooth and Roy Z is a very good rock/metal guitarist...good stuff..

This is the second album made in collaboration with guitarist/producer Roy Z. It marks Bruce's return to his more melodic style of singing. Thanks to the slightly bigger success of this album, Bruce would work with Roy Z in the future on his solo albums (including his latest, Tyranny of Souls).

The cover art was done by Derek Riggs, best known for being the creator of Iron Maiden's mascot Eddie. Four versions of the album cover exist.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
