Gimme gimme

I can't say I've got any new music that has excited me in a while.

Old Country, Rock, Rap or Blues please. Regardless of genre the lyrics have to be clever. Not just "I slapped that ho then made some dough".

Oh my... going to run on forever for this... I think.

If you haven't already... pile up some Wu-Tang. BT had a five disc collection called Wu-Banga.

Look for Binary Star. One song in particular is Slang Blade.

Get some Aesop Rock. Most particular Daylight, and then Nightlight. Have fun comparing the two, as they are similar, just flipped.

R.A. The Rugged Man - Stanley Kubrick

If you haven't touched Immortal Technique yet at least get Harlem Streets and Creation/destruction.

Dig up some Dead Prez.

Dig up some Whodini.

Tribe Called Quest.

De La Soul.

Good luck on it, but find The Goats. One of my favorites there is Typical American, and then Tricks of the Shade.(did a shareaza search.. turned up a lot of "the mountain goats" not it)(typical american showed up whilst I was typing(Limewire))

Get some masta ace.

Richard Cheese whilst your bored.

Another one of my favoritew when I get bored of music.... Tom Jones.

Blackstar, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Cannibal Ox, Swollen Members, Dilated Peoples, Jeru the Damaja, Blahzay Blahzay, Common, The Roots, The Coupe, Fugees.

Dig out and find some Reggae, and some dub reggae.

And finally, search over the music on sites that host free files. I've had fun digging past some of the commercial stuff on Cnet and finding some independant, or no deal stuff. 3CE was pretty good.

Good luck.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
