Thought I'd get clever with the post title. After receiving tons of emails requesting that I bring back my music picks, I've decided to bring the feature back. I'll be posting the recommendations once a month, in a nice little iTunes iMix package, so you can hear previews of the songs as well. So without further adieu, here are my recommendations for July 2005:

"You're Beautiful" - James Blunt

"Perfect Time of Day" - Howie Day

"Ashes" - Embrace

"Inside and Out" - Feist

"Fastlane" (Wamdue Main Mix) [Edit] - Esthero & Jemeni And Jeleestone

"Feel Good Inc." (Album Crossfade) - Gorillaz

"Jetstream" (Arthur Baker Remix) - New Order

"Technologic" ( Basement Jaxx Kontrol Mixx ) - Daft Punk

"Say Hello" - Deep Dish

"Don't Look Back" - Telepopmusik

"Insomnia" (Monster Mix) - Faithless

"La Tortura" - Shakira & Alejandro Sanz

"I Cry" - Anthony Hamilton

There is a little more dance and electronica than usual, but I think that's due to the fact that it's the summertime (party music). My favorite song by far is "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt. I love tortured vocalists.

You will find the mix on iTunes where you can preview the songs, and purchase them if you wish.

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
