very nice, kiwi...are the blue and white dishes Delft?

we thought we'd go up to Edinburgh for G8 but changed our minds at the last minute (work) so we're not doing anything special, a good thing, gotta recharge for the next assault. :)

Enjoy celebrating kicking those evil English butts!

in truth, i never thought of 'the english' on 4th of july, my history teachers did such a shitty job (BOOOOR-ING!) now i wish i'd paid attention despite them. it was all dates which i'd puke up for tests and then immediately forget a few hours later.

Last night grandson Jimmy and his All-Star team won the 7 & 8 year old division Kentucky district championship, so the holiday weekend got off with a bang for us. We had a pizza bash afterward and I cleaned Jimmy's clock on the pool table

In about 12 hours, 11 year old grandson Patrick and his All-Star team begin their district championship tournament. Another baseball weekend here.

Historians often get it wrong. You always hear that the Americans won, but ultimately the British just beat themselves :P

YOU! GO! AMBER!

Nor was sailing to another continent to get away from religious nut-job leaders. How is that working out for you?

 even though i knew you were playing, i'd have been a bit more than upset (jealousy) if i weren't here. :)

btw, if i were back in NY i'd definitely have stolen a flag (my first) and i'd be flying it upside-down: 'The flying of your Flag upside-down represents that you see "This Country IS In Crisis" This flag shall remain tattered and upside down as a sign of Constitutional distress!' (nb: not recommended for red-staters unless you're ready to get the shit beaten outta you)

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
