I'm flying into Dallas to see a friend for a few days. Leaving Saturday night, coming back Monday night. I just need to get away from everything, even if it's only a few days. The last week has consisted of working 6am-2pm Saturday through Saturday.... it's not fun. I had one day off though... all I did was sleep.

Tell Beatfactory to get his ass back on here, I never see him post.

lol, where to begin? friday we flew up to Manchester and met Alma and Nomad at Saffron's, met up w/about 20 people we haven't seen in ages and went to see the band, ended up partying w/them at Saffron's roof barbecue, drove from Manc to Bristol yesterday and caught the band again, another great gig ending when D Wayne singled out the Bristol Posse, we couldn't quit laughing our asses off, brought people back here (most of whom are still sleeping, air mattresses and sleeping bags in the LR behind me--WAKE UP, FUCKERS!), anyway, another fantastic tour is over (we might drive over to wychwood later and catch them again, asked to a party, dunno if we'll have the strength to go).

Nada really. Friday night helped my buddy track down his drunken wife, who didn't want to be found.

Fun comes Wednesday. Heading down to Portland, OR for a few days of R&R with my friend who moved down there for his Bachelor's/Masters/PHD studies. It was more a descision of his girlfriend moving there from Philly, but it works for him.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
