X (x -dammit)

One of the powerhouse punk bands to come out of the 80's punk Los Angeles scene..X quickly established themselves with their first album Los Angeles which was then followed with two critically acclaimed, but uneven efforts.

Their 4th release: Under the Big Black Sun ...was a very dark ...loud yet sensitive album that took the listener on a musical journey.

And a stark journey it was.

The album was produced by Ray Manzarek of The Doors. and some of The Doors penchant for darkness shows in the recording.

During the making of the album Exene's sister was killed in a car crash and she poured out her grief through her writings.

(She is also a poet... btw..with a few collections in print)

Right from the opening track ...Hungry Wolf ..the band is in top form and the result shows it.

John Doe and Exene Cervenka intertwine vocals around the killer base of Billy Zoom and DJ Bonebrake's crazy drumming.

But the band was destined to failure , releasing only 1 more studio album before John and Exene broke up.

This album is probably there most even, accessible work.

A must for anyone wanting to (re)live the LA 80's punk scene.

It's hard to find X tunes on P2P because of most searchs require more than one letter .just like here at Beatking...but if UB40 and U2 can be found ..you can find X as well.

B) Soulseek is good at having some selection of X ..Sharaza as well

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
