I got a little bonus yesterday. Not much, but I wasn't with the company for much of the financial year it was rewarded for. I'm going to spend it on taking my family out for a meal.

Bank holiday on monday here too. Sadly I'm working nights, finishing Monday morning. It's been a 7 day week this week - but I then have 5 days off - not even on call!

DAIC, moodyblue and LOTD - Enjoy your Monday off.

Moodyblue and LOTD - sounds like you will need it off

Moodyblue - Think of all the happy faces :)

DAIC - 5 days?? lazy sod!

Potato - Fix life in a weekend? Good luck with that!

we were in 3 countries yesterday, i'm so stoked. saw the alabama 3 in cardiff w/captain paranoid, had a blast backstage and at the gig, trained to bristol yesterday morning and then plane to edinburgh--the meeting of the minds  we haven't seen our friends since xmas 03 and we've been having a blast *thwoop* *glug glug glug* plus it was 24C (about 80F) in bristol when we left and an hour later off the plane in scotland and i've been freezing my ass off (9C, about 48 and then it went down to like 3 last night). :)

How was the show?

LOL, where to begin? in a word, 'fantastic' (but that's all their shows). it was my dream gig (captain paranoid and the delusions opening for them). we couldn't dance because it was so packed, we walked into the venue w/Orlando (keyboard player), instant street cred, wheeee! and we got invited backstage by D Wayne the second we set foot at the bar, partied w/the band before they went on; i'm still flying high. two more gigs coming up next weekend; we should've signed on for the entire tour, poor us. :)

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
