Black Sabbath Gets Remixed...Folk style...

We sold our souls for a little bit of folk and electronica... On April 5, Temporary Residence is releasing possibly the least-metal Black Sabbath tribute ever. Titled Everything Comes And Goes, the disc features Björk's supporting band, Matmos, refiguring "F/X"; Japanese noise-rockers Ruins sabotaging a medley of Sab classics in reverse; laptop ingénue Four Tet depolarizing Iron Man; Portland instrumetallers Grails worshiping at the "Black Sabbath"; and Bonnie "Prince" Billy's brother's band, Anomoanon, folking up "Planet Caravan." The label says the concept originated back in '97, before the drab four fully reunited, and that it wanted to focus on Ozzy-era classics. We say this is the best Sabbath tribute disc since Hydra Head's In These Black Days 7-inches. And since some of these cuts get a little bluegrassy, we can finally use that "un-technical ecstasy" joke we've been saving...

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
