Funkiest artist or band ever

My vote goes to the godfather of soul, the living legend, the man himself, Mr James Brown.

The man IS funk. I have yet to hear a track from him that didn't make me shake my head the funky way. He created FAT frums and he provided the next generations with billions and billions of samples.

Second by far is James Taylor.

/me is listening to Popcorn REALLY loud!

Respect goes out to the JBs as well. That music can't be played if you're not born funky. Those people probably poped out of their mother while playing funky drums and guitars

James Taylor is funky?

I agree on James Brown. The Average White Band were pretty funky. So was Hendrix's Band of Gypsies. Sam and Dave... Funkadelic.

Here is funky:

Definitely Shuggie Otis, genius of the psychedelic funk

I remember his early stuff being real bluesy...when did he move to psychedelic funk and what album would be a good representative of that?

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
