Digital videos are a great way to share memories, but they consume gobs of storage space, which makes it a challenge to share them. What do you do when your video is too large to fit in e-mail or even fit on a single DVD? The Web provides several storage alternatives.

www.yousendit.com is supposed to be the best free way to send large files, according to a number of ZP posters. You can send up to 1GB. Sounds good, but I've yet to try it.

I've used it a couple of times. It works well. The only thing is the uploads. It takes between 1 and 5 minutes per meg. So, a large file could take some time.

I have used it lots of times. If you have a glitch you have to start over. No resume.

try their download manager ... i would get some files from yousendit that would time out before i could finish them, then i tried their little download manager, which allows you to resume downloads (i think you could use other download managers as well, but this has worked very well for me ) ... made a big difference for me ...

(... when you click on the link to download the file, notice below options 1 & 2, how to get and use their little manager ... )

I stand corrected. They have a resume thingy but I was too stoopid to use it.

Thanks Deb.

hehe ... you didn't need correcting ... you are right ... if you don't use the download manager, there is no resume ... and wow, what a pain that is ... there were some files that i would have 90% downloaded, then it would time out ... ... that was when i noticed the manager and though i'd try it ... and it did make a difference for me ... so, just thought i'd share ...

: )

As I said, they have a download thingy but I was to stoopid to use it. I didn't even see it. In my quest to be as fast as Dude on the "enter" button I overlooked valuable info which would rescue me from restarts.

I wonder if Joe or the others noticed it? I am sure if they didn't they would never dummy up and admit it.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
